Ebay $1,000,000

I read in a book recently that the highest paid Ebay affiliate earnt $1,000,000 in January, that's right in one month. I thought everybody in the world, virtually, was on Ebay. But this guy or girl is still finding plenty of surfers to join up.

The book is 378 internet predictions which I think I mentioned last time, I'm only half way through but this is probably the best ebook I have ever read or bought. Click here if you want to check it out.

So I'm trying to think of smart ways to promote Ebay, I'll let you know when I hit the million!!

As for the Adwords campaigns that I'm working on the Australian program that I mentioned last time is still converting well but  I'm still waiting for Aussie Overture to approve my listings so that I can increase the traffic and the earnings. They promise 3 - 5 working days and its day 5 tomorrow. It ma be tomorrow already because its 21.45 GMT which is early morning in Aus.

I keep forgetting to change the times on my postings it always defaults to EST I think maybe there is a setting I can changeto get GMT as default.

Yesterday I went racing at the home of horse racing (Newmarket, England) and had a great day in between the showers. I managed to come home with a little more money than I went with which finished the day off nicely.

Ok I have to go because I'm addicted to Big Brother 5 (UK) it's my only must watch program at the moment.

Some Money!

A good day, I awoke to find that I have made a commision for a mobile phone offer I have been promoting. I have spent about £1.40 on clicks and have earnt a £30 commision.

I have also sold an ebook that I am promoting. This book Niche Factors is a book that I got resale rights for as part of a purchase of something else. I put a site up using the sales letter that came with the resale rights and made a $27 sale overnight.

Finally I made AU$20 for referrals I sent to an Australian site that I am promoting.

All of this happened between 6 o'clock yesterday when I logged off and 9 o'clock this morning.

This is just the encouragement I need, in the early days of any project when the end goal seems a long way off it can be tough and little glimmers of hope are what keeps you going.

All I have to do now is to keep working until this becomes a regular occurance and then to build on it and on and on.

But not today as I'm off out for a days shopping and meals and movies as a belated birthday celebration.

AdWords etc

Ok I get the weekend off, but then forgot to make an entry for Monday!
 
As I said in an earlier post (I Think) I am setting up Google Adword campaigns in order to make my own way in the world without a job.
 
I have been running a campaign over the last few days that I have had trouble getting clicks for however when I do get clicks it makes a good return.
 
So far I have manged to send 39 clicks at a cost of £10.52 and have earnt 50 Australian dollars. (Its an australian program) AUD50 is about £20. So doubling my money. That's good but now I need to get 100's of clicks a days instead of 10.
 
All the clicks on Google are expensive although as you can see I've found a few at about 25 - 30 pence each.
 
My task then is to find many more clicks.
 
My approach is to check out the main Australian search engines, which I found by searching Aus Yahoo. Now I need to get listed in these search engines which it turns out are mostly supplied by Overture. Overture won't accept an affiliate link (apparently (so says Google Cash)) so I have built a one page web site with every link pointing at the affiliate program I'm promoting.
 
My first goal is to get 10 AdWord campaigns that each make £10 profit per day and I want to complete this in a 10 week period. IE one new campaign per week. That won't match my previous salary but it will make things reasonably safe for me so I can then plan the future from there.
 
Other things I may talk about as I go along include betting exchanges and how to profit from them, goal setting and all that PMA stuff. Actually I don't read all that stuff as much as I used to but I do write out an index card everyday with my goals on it.
 
Does it help? I don't know but it does ensure I don't forget what my primary goal is and that I don't go flying off on a tangent.

Day Two

Ok, I made it to day two. I figure that if I can make it to day 21 I should have developed a habit and I will be able to keep it going forever!!
 
But what to write?
 
Today I have been preparing a mailing for a list that I operate. The list is related to horse racing and has about 900 members. How many of those members actually read the mails or even receive them I don't know. But if I include a link to another site I usually get about 40 or 50 readers actually click the link.
 
The mail includes tips for horse racing on a Saturday in the UK. I used to make the selections, which I have to do anyway for the paying customers, and then at the last minute try and find something to promote at the same time. Now I'm full time on-line I can spend a little more time preparing the message and will probably build the list and do more promotions now.
 
My number one priority at the moment is Google Adwords, as I mentioned yesterday.  If you want to find out more about making money from Adwords then you could read Google Cash which can be found at the end of this link.

Life-begins.co.uk is a domain name I have bought for whatever this turns out to be. It's sort of a life begins at 40 thing, but also relates to starting afresh and escaping from the rat race.
 
As you might gather, I'm not really sure where this is going. So I'm just going to write whatever I think of until a theme develops. Hopefully at some stage it might get interesting. 

 

Background Info

The first post!!

What is this Blog about? That's the question.

The answer is a lot of things. It's about the fact that I have taken redundancy from my manegerial position with a FTSE 100 company in the UK to make my living on my own online.

It's about the fact that I am fast approaching 40 (39, 2 days ago) and want to perfect my life. Although some would say it's pretty good already!

I guess they are the two main subjects. Can I make a decent living online and if so how did I do it. And what is my perfect life?

I don't think I'm going to divulge my name, it may be that nobody ever sees this but just in case and to protect me from looking a prize prat at any time in the future I think I will be anonymous. I will say that I live in a small village about 100 miles from London, UK and I have a wife and two daughters.

How will I make money?

My first goal is to create Google Adwords campaigns. If you search on Google you will see small ads down the right hand side of the page. These ads can be bought by anyone and the price you pay is on a per click basis. You bid for a position if you bid the highest whenever somebody clicks on your ad you pay the amount you bid.

What do you advertise? Well a great number of websites operate affiliate programs. An affiliate program is where the site will pay you if you send a visitor to their site and that visitor does some pre agreed action. EG signs up for a mailing list or buys something.

Basically then I am finding profitable affiliate schemes and then promoting them on Google and taking the difference between the cost of the ad and the commision paid as my earnings.

I have other plans also which I will share as I go along.

I've just remembered the other thing I want to talk about in this blog is the 80/20 rule and I will deal with this again later.

Ok that is enough for a first post, will there ever be a second post. Well that is a little test for me and hopefully I will pass that test tomorrow.
